Pennies are Brownish, not Red

Well, I guess it's about time for me to get yelled at by bloggers about Palestine. I haven't made any comments in the past, not because I don't care, just because I was too busy making fun of The Harp. The Cons today have released a statement regarding Hamas and Palestine, proof read by The Harp, and P-Makkie won the task of dishing it out to the people.

Now, with just about everyone in politics, The Cons have gone too far on this situation. It's not as if they are the only ones to do it, but since they are in power now, I get to comment on them. Now, I do not condone terrorism in any way if it is either a guy strapping a bomb to his chest and blowing up half a city block, or burning crosses in front of a persons house, or bombing the crap out of a city to try to get one person who committed terrorism, but they could have used more tact when they were dealing with this situation. Instead of The Cons just flat out turning their back on Palestine, what they should do is open up the diplomatic channels and find any sort of way to hammer out an agreement. If you just turn your backs on them, they will just become more resentful and steadfast in their opinion. We should be sending our best diplomats on a plane to Palestine to talk to the leaders of Hamas to try to convince them to change their ways through sound open communication rather than sticking their fingers in their ears and screaming LALALALALALALALALA until they are drowned out entirely. We need to step up and help the Middle East by trying to broker a deal with Hamas and I would even volunteer to go down there myself, if I was in the political circle that would be able to get me there.

Mayber we should do what the Liberals did and endorse the Tamil Tigers. Why not allow Hamas to set up shop here in Canada? Everyone knows what Hamas is. If they were in Canada they would be tried under the hate-crime law. They have said that Jews should not exist. And you want to have a group hug with these people? Muslims and Jews have NEVER gotten along. What makes you think Canada could go in there and say "now now people, lets play nice". Get serious.

So we should renouce aid to a democratically elected government just because you are not happy?
Let's not forget that many of Israel's action have been condemned by the UN and various groups as being akin to terrorism. Of course if you are all powerful it's not called that...

I am not saying that peace in the Middle East can be made overnight, but it doesn't mean you shouldn't try. Yes there is a lot of animosity on both sides for the atrocities that each side has done over the millennium but peace can always be accomplished if the effort is put into the task. The planet itself is starting down a winding road of chaos and it is up to someone to try to bring stability to the planet. Canada is one of the most loved nations in the world and as Canadians, we could have a powerful voice in calming the outrage that has been building over the last few years and the last few millennia. You are saying that it would never work because they hate each other so why bother trying. Well, that attitude is the reason why nothing has been done...nobody has really tried to create a lasting peace between the nations of the middle east because they thought it was too hard and not worth their time. Well, people in Palestine and Israel are being killed every day in senseless acts and if you don't care about that and if you don't want to find a way to stop it then you are a heartless bastard with absolutely no moral integrity. People only react by looking at one side of the story, Israel good, Palestine Bad...or Palestine good, Israel bad....but in order to have a true understanding of the situation you have to look at both sides of the story. In the end it is just two groups of people blowing the crap out of each other because they pronounce a couple of things differently. Moses, Mohammed and Jesus were all great men of compassion and integrity it's just when each religion formed, those scholars rewrote the teachings to suit their needs. Instead of focusing on the religions, focus on the prophets and try to work your life as they did.

Decoin, if you knew a little bit about the subject before writing sarcastic remarks like that or at least read my post in its entirety then you would know that the $7.3 million that Ottawa will be cutting was mainly earmarked for housing rehabilitation. Now, the last time I checked, giving money to build housing for innocent Palestinians was not supporting terrorism or the irradiation of the Israeli people. Canada is not giving money to Hamas, they were giving it to the Palestinian people. Publicly shunning the people of Palestine for democratically electing a group that they thought would be most effective in creating a strong Palestinian nation. It is not the brightest choice in the world but it was THEIR choice. We need to try to quell the animosity between the people and try to find a way to get the two nations to co-exist by focusing on their similarities and not their differences. It won't be easy or a quick solution but it is one that is required to be done. One last thing, the money that the Canadian government gave to Palestine does not go to terrorism, terrorists get their money from oil. Every terrorist organization in the area is funded by North Americans driving their SUV's to soccer practice. If you want to stop giving money to the terrorists, stop using oil. Alberta and the Maritimes would be out of thousands of jobs and would loose billions of dollars, but at least we wouldn't be giving money to the terrorists.
