Sheriff John Brown Hits The Road

First off, bonus points for whoever gets the reference in the title. Secondly, what the hell are they thinking? I am all for creating an Alberta Provincial Police Force to man the highways and rural areas of Alberta. It works in Ontario, why not try it here. But making sheriffs to be glorified traffic cops....now that is just dumb. First off, calling them sheriffs is just flirting with Alberta's love of American conservatism and the American way of life in general. Now I don't mean that everyone in Alberta is crazy, but there are enough of them to lump them all together under the provincial banner. Just look at who Alberta elected for their legislature and who they voted into Parliament. If they are going to do this, go all the way and create a Provincial Police Force. Do not half ass it and create sheriffs to write speeding tickets. I know, not much to say, but it's the long weekend so there's no news to type about.

First off, Pebbles, I have never seen the rank of Sheriff anywhere in Canada. The RCMP, EPS and Calgary Police do not have a rank of Sheriff. I have searched high and low to find somebody with that rank but came up dry. If you have any evidence to the contrary, please post so we can all learn something.

Now for decoin. MY GOD YOU ARE FUCKING RETARDED!!!!!!!! Do you have anything better to do with your life than troll blogs and preach your hatred and utter stupidity onto others? This post had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH FEDERAL POLITICS!!!!! THIS POST WAS ABOUT SHERIFFS BEING LAUNCHED IN ALBERTA!!!!! If you have something to say about that then by all means do so. If not then just kindly shut the hell up.

Ummm, we have Sheriffs in B.C. They deliver summons and notices of the court. They are sometimes used in instances where a Peace Officer is needed to oversee a less-than-amicable split of roommates, basically there to uphold the Law and keep the peace. There is no special "rank," they are Sheriffs.
Sheriffs are also used in carting to and fro from jail to courthouse of misdemeanour cases.
They are not the "long arm of the law," nor are they gun-toting, toe the line RCMP or City Police.
*milan, your google has been set to neo-con filter if you cannot find the BC Sheriffs.

What is this country coming to when the average joe doesn't know what a Canadian Sheriff is and what his/her mandate is?

For sure Alberta would like another group in between Civil and Criminal activities.

The Redneck force, aka Sheriff. Pin a star and deputize a neo-con and they will be out there bashing heads, corralling wrong-doers, shooting first and asking questions later. God help the poor sucker Jehovah's Witnesses who show up on some Sheriff's doorstep...

Who knew they were on our side?

O/T Decoin, you realise that most people know you are an American con, eh?
